How do you attach a hair system? E-mail
Written by Journal Staff

Hair systems can be attached by several methods:

  1. Weaving
  2. Double-sided Transparent Tape
  3. Clips
  4. Bonding

Not all methods are equally effective. For example, weaving (of any kind) will actually cause more hair loss, and with prolonged use it can eventually cause you to need a full wig.

Double-sided tape is an excellent attachment method, because the tape comes in many strengths, and it allows you to maintain your hair system on your own. However, tape can only be applied to skin, so if you only have thinning hair, tape may not be effective.

Clips are used to attach a hair system by clipping it into your own existing hair. This is the best option for people with thinning hair. But there are good clips and bad clips. Only clips with a low, flat arch should be used. Clips with a high arch will actually pull your own hair out over time.

Bonding glue is used to attach a hair system to your head for weeks at a time. Many people prefer this method, because it feels the most like your own hair. However, bonded hair systems will not last as long, because they are subjected to more wear and tear than with other attachment methods.
