Hair Replacement Tips From GQ Magazine E-mail
Written by Journal Staff

Robert Deniro Hair Loss GQ imageJanuary's issue of GQ Magazine, featuring a grinning Robert DeNiro on the cover, includes a four-page article titled, "A Whole New Bald Game". The article gives 15 tips on how men can deal with hair loss. The tips range from info on drugs that have limited effectiveness, to surgery, and yes, even hairpieces.

The author went to Hair Club For Men, and describes his experience. Essentially, he thought the hairpiece looked good, but it was difficult to wear and required a lot of maintenance. Ultimately, he decided not to wear a hairpiece and just spend the money on other things he enjoys. Too bad he didn't look at other hair replacement companies-- there are lower maintenance options.

For example, with the type of hair loss the author had, just at the crown of his head, he didn't have to have it bonded to his scalp the way Hair Club told him to. A lace hairpiece could have been designed with comb-clip attachments that would have allowed him to take the hairpiece off nightly. Voila, no itch! If he preferred a slightly more permanent option that still required far less maintenance, the hairpiece could have been designed with double-sided tape, allowing him to leave it on for days or weeks at a time and still remove it himself whenever he wanted.

Unfortunately, not all hair replacement companies are created equal. Hair Club didn't give the author any other options, and he gave up on hairpieces all together.
